Berau Coal plans higher production in 2004

East Kalimantan coal producer PT. Berau Coal had set a 2004 production target of 8.5 million tons, higher than this year’s expected production of nearly 8 million tons.
“In 2004, Lati mine will produce 4.5 million tons, Binungan mine 3.03 million tons and Sambarata 0.97 million tons,” corporate secretary Ratmono Ratmansunu told Petromindo.Com Wednesday.
Ratmono said Berau aimed to reach peak production of 10.5 million tons per annum in 2008 by adding 500,000 tons production annually after 2004.
Berau, which is 60 percent owned by heavy equipment supplier United Tractors operates coalmines in Berau Regency in the northern part of east Kalimantan.(godang)
