Berau Coal produces 2.3 million tons in Q1

East Kalimantan coal producer PT Berau Coal said Tuesday it had produced 2.308 million tons of coal in the first quarter of 2005, slightly up from the previous quarter of 2.124 million tons.
Berau?s spokesperson Manahan Harianja told Petromindo.Com coal production in the quarter was hampered by excessive rains, but Berau anticipated to ramp up production to 2.5 million tons in the second quarter as the wet season finished.
Berau targeted to produce around 10 million tons of coal this year.
According to Manahan, Berau has planned to export around 70 percent of this year production to its traditional markets, such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Japan, while the remaining portion for domestic markets. (dino)
