Berau Coal's mining activities remain normal despite rains

Production activities of East Kalimantan-based coalminer PT Berau Coal remain normal despite incessant rains, a company official told Petromindo.Com Monday.

?Rains have fallen in East Kalimantan for several days, but they're not heavy. Our production activities are continuing as usual,? said Berau Coal president director Jeffrey Mulyono.

Berau Coal, one of Indonesia?s top coalminers, has set a target to produce 7.2 million tons of coal this year. Its coal output reached 6.9 million tons in 2002.

It produced 3.5 million tons of coal in the first semester of this year.

The company is 60 percent owned by publicly listed heavy equipment supplier PT United Tractors. (godang)
