Berau Coal?s output increases to 2.2 million tons in Q3

East Kalimantan-based coal miner PT Berau Coal said on Tuesday it had produced over 2.18 million tons of coal in the third quarter of 2002, up from 1.8 million tons from the previous quarter.
With the 2.2 million tons, Berau Coal?s coal output from January to September of this year reached 5.4 million tons, company corporate secretary Ratmono told Petromindo.Com.
Company?s output in first quarter was 1.4 million tons.
Ratmono said they were optimistic that this year?s production target of 7 million tons could be met. Berau Coal produced 6.8 million tons of coal in 2001.
Berau Coal, operating coalmines in Berau regency in East Kalimantan, is majority owned by publicly listed heavy equipment maker PT United Tractors Tbk. Other shareholders are PT Armadian Tritunggal and Japan?s trading powerhouse Nissho Iwai. (godang)
