Berau Coal's Q1 output increases by 40%

East Kalimantan-based coalminer PT Berau Coal said it had produced 2.084 million tons of coal in the first quarter of this year, 40 percent higher compared with previous year's corresponding period production of 1.49 million tons.
President director Jeffrey Muljono told Petromindo.Com Berau targeted to produce 1.98 million tons of coal in the this quarter.
Berau has set a 2004 production target of 8.5 million tons, higher than last year's production of nearly 8 million tons.
Berau Coal, 60 percent owned by heavy equipment supplier PT United Tractors, is one of Indonesia's major coal producers, operating coalmines in Berau Regency in East Kalimantan.(alex)
