Berau Coal seeks more tugs & barges

East Kalimantan coal miner PT Berau Coal is seeking to lease additional 7 sets of tug and barge for this year to anticipate its increasing coal production target, the company?s official has said.

The company?s official told Petromindo.Com last week that Berau needs additional 3 barges of 300 feed and another 4 units of 270 feet.

Last year, the company used 36 sets of tugs and barges under time charter to ship 17 million tonnes of coal, the official said.

The company plans to boost its coal output to 20 million tonnes of coal this year and up further to 24 million tonnes next year, the official said.

Berau Coal is gearing up shiploading capacity to support plan to double production to 30 million tonnes per annum starting in 2014. (giok)
