Berau Coal sells 5.7 million tons of coal in Jan-Oct 2002

JSX-listed heavy equipment maker PT. United Tractors Tbk (UT) said on Tuesday in the January-October period its subsidiary coal-mining firm PT. Berau Coal had sold 5.7 million tons of coal, a 4.4 percent increase from last year?s corresponding sales of 5,5 million tons.

Seventy percent of the 5.7 million tons was shipped to overseas markets, UT said in its public expose meeting.

UT said Berau Coal had also booked unaudited revenue of Rp 1.09 trillion (US$ = 9,220) during the 10-month period, a slight increase from last year?s corresponding period which amounted to Rp 1.06 trillion.

Berau Coal operates a coalmine in Berau regency in East Kalimantan. UT has a 60 percent stake in the company. (robert)
