Berau Coal ships 2.31 million tons in Q1

East Kalimantan-based coal producer PT Berau Coal shipped around 2.31 million tons in the first quarter of 2006, up from the same period last year of 2.20 million tons of coal, according to company marketing manager Eko Budi.

Berau marketed around 9.5 million tons of coal last year, of which about 70 percent were exported to its traditional markets, such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Japan, while the remaining portion for domestic markets. (godang)
