Berau Coal sold out for H1 2007

East Kalimantan-based coal miner PT Berau Coal said Tuesday its output had been fully contracted for the first half of this year.

?Berau?s first half production capacity had been sold out with 7 million tons are scheduled to be shipped to customers until the end of June, ? Marketing Manager Eko Budi told Petromindo.Com.

Berau plans to produce around 12 million tons in 2007, but still has spare capacity to increase production to up to 15 million tons, Director Tria Suprajeni said in an interview late last year. Berau shipped 10.65 million tonnes of coal in 2006.

Eko further added that the company is now finalizing talks to supply 500,000 tons per annum of coal to one of South Korean power firms. He also said several contracts with Japanese buyers with a total volume of 800,000 tons for 2007 are still being discussed.

Berau has also just bagged 1 million tons contract to supply Tanjung Jati B 2x660MW power plant in Central Java for 2007 shipments.(godang)
