Berau Coal strikes new transshippers deal with Coeclerici

East Kalimantan coal miner PT Berau Coal has signed an agreement to lease two more new transhippers with Italian logistics firm Coeclerici Logistics SpA, the coal company?s official told Petromindo.Com

The official said on Tuesday that the two new transshippers will be delivered in 2012. The transshippers will have a capacity of 35,000 tonnes per day each.

Berau will also receive a new transhipper from Coeclerici, which now is under construction in China. The official said that the transhipper, which is on track to be delivered in July this year, will have two cranes and two ship loaders with average loading rate of 35,000 tonnes per day.

Berau will lease the transhipper under 10-year contract with tonnage of 4 million per annum.

Berau Coal is gearing up shiploading capacity to support plan to double production to 30 million tonnes per annum starting in 2014.

Another transshipper called ?Princess Chloe? will also start loading coal for Berau.

The transshipper will be operated by PT Mitra CTM Swire , which is a joint venture between local shipping firm PT Mitrabahtera Segara Sejahtera (MBSS), CTM and Singapore?s Swire Group.

?Princesse Chloe, which arrived on March 11, is being commissioned,? the official said, adding that the Princesse Chloe will start operation in early next month.

Princesse Chloe has a nominal transshipment throughput of 50,000 tonnes per day with a guaranteed minimum average of 32,000 tonnes a day, and also has a 2,200 tonnes-per-hour telescopic shiploader.

Mitra CTM Swire also operates transshipper ?Princess Abby? for Berau with average loading rate of 23,500 tonnes per day and guaranteed rate of 18,000 tonnes per day. (denny)
