Berau Coal to supply coal for power project

Coal mining firm PT Berau Coal has signed an MoU with the state-owned power company PT Indonesia Power under which the former would supply a low grade coal to the latter?s coal-fired power generation project in Berau regency, East Kalimantan, according to the local Metro Balikpapan daily.

The paper said that the 12 MW power project would help the Berau administration to avoid future electricity crisis. But it did not say when the MoU was signed and there was no details of the coal supply deal.

Indonesia Power has recently agreed with the Berau administration to develop the U$12 million power generation project, which would be located in a 50 hectare site in the Sungai Latti area, which is near Berau Coal mining sites.(*)
