The newly built mine-mouth power plant in Gunung Tabur, one of districts in Berau regency, East Kalimantan has begun to generate profits to its investors that include the local government, Kaltim Pos reported on Thursday.

The 2x7-megawatt power plant, which began its operation in April last year, booked net revenues of about Rp 1.34 billion up to May this year, or more than half of Rp 2.4 billion targeted for this year.

?During the first year of its operation, the new power plant has contributed about Rp 750 million to the local government's coffer,? said Chairuddin, the financial director of PT Indo Pusaka Berau which operates the power plant.

Indo Puska, jointly owned by PT Indonesia Power, the Berau government, and PT Pusakan Jaya Baru, sells the electricity to PLN and PT Berau Coal. (*)
