Berau records higher coal shipment 2006

East Kalimantan coal miner PT. Berau Coal said on Tuesday it had shipped 10.65 million tonnes of coal in 2006, higher than the company?s 2005 shipment of 9.5 million tonnes, a company offcial said.
Marketing manager Eko Budi told Petromindo.Com the company intended to produce 3.6 million tonnes of coal in the first quarter of this year.
Berau director Tria Suprajeni said in Dec 11, 2006 interview that the company planned to increase production to 12 million tonnes this year, eyeing export increase to India and China. Tria said that currently Berau has some 3 million tonnes of spare capacity to service spot market. (godang)
