Berau reports Q3 production increase

East Kalimantan-based coal producer PT. Berau Coal said its third quarter coal production increased to 2.070 million tons from 2.040 million tons in the second quarter.
Company?s corporate secretary Ratmono Ratmansuno said cumulative production from January to September had reached 5.6 million tons, prompting the company to get back to its production target of around 8 million tons this year. Earlier, Berau Coal revised down production target due poor Q1 production result to 7.2 million tons.
Berau Coal, 60 percent owned by heavy equipment supplier United Tractors, is one of Indonesia?s major coal producer, operating coalmines in Berau Regency in East Kalimantan. Berau Coal produced 6.9 million tons of coal in 2002. (godang)
