Berlian Laju Tanker signs agreement to buy new tankers

Publicly-listed shipping company PT Berlian Laju Tanker Tbk (BLT) has signed an agreement to buy two new tankers as part of the the firm's agressive efforts to expand its fleet.
BLT said on Tuesday that it had signed an agreement to buy a 7,500 dead weight ton (DWT) IMO II chemical tanker and a 150,000 DWT double hull oil tanker. Both tankers are planned to be delivered between June and August 2007.
The firm said it would sign another agreement to buy another oil tanker. It however did not specify the value of each tanker, while saying it would spend about $170 million to buy tankers.
The company also said it had received two gas tankers, MT Gas Papua and MT Gas Bali both 5,000 cubic meters (CBM) and one chemical tanker, MT Purwati, a 19,990 DWT.
With the completion of delivery of the above vessels, the company's fleet will have grown to 65 vessels comprising of 38 chemical tankers, 18 oil tankers, 6 gas tankers and 1 FPSO tanker with total fleet capacity of approximately to 1.85 million DWT, the company said. (denny)
