East Kalimantan coal miner PT Bharinto Ekatama, a coal unit of Indonesia-listed coal miner PT Indo Tambangraya Megah (ITM), targets to have an installed capacity of 4 million tons per year by 2014-2015 from its mine, a source in the company told Petromindo.com.
Having started its initial production in May this year, Bharinto expects to produce around 700,000 tons of coal with CV range of 6,400-6,800 Kcal/kg (ADB) this year.
Previously, ITM?s CFO Edward Manurung said that the mine would start production early in 2012 with 500,000 tons of high CV coal output volume in the first year, still in talks with several foreign buyers for an offtake agreement.
Bharinto, a third generation Coal Contract of Work (CCoW) holder, has its concession located in West Kutai regency, East Kalimantan and in Barito Utara regency, Central Kalimantan, covering an area of 22,000 hectares adjacent to ITM?s other mine PT Trubaindo Coal Mining, which is already in production stage.
Logistic wise, coal from Bharinto's mine will be transported through some 9 km haul-road before reaching Bunyut river in West Kutai regency.
