Bharinto to increase coal output to 1-1.5m tons next year

East Kalimantan coal miner PT Bharinto Ekatama, a coal unit of Indonesia-listed coal miner PT Indo Tambangraya Megah (ITM), aims to bolster output to 1-1.5 million tons next year, compared to the estimated 300,000-500,000 tons for this year.
This year?s output estimate is below the initial target of 700,000 tons, a source told Petromindo.com.
Bharinto began coal production in the third quarter of 2012 with production volume of of only 40,000 tons.
ITM said in its financial report said that the new mine Bharinto started its first albeit small shipment of 20,000 tons. Bharinto will gradually increase production and become major contribution to volume growth into next year.
Bharinto said earlier, that the company is expecting to have an installed capacity of 4 million tons per year by 2014-2015. The calorific value of the coal is 6,400-6,800 Kcal/kg (ADB).
Bharinto, a third generation Coal Contract of Work (CCoW) holder, has its concession located in West Kutai regency, East Kalimantan and in Barito Utara regency, Central Kalimantan, covering an area of 22,000 hectares adjacent to ITM?s other mine PT Trubaindo Coal Mining, which is already in production stage.
Logistic wise, coal from Bharinto's mine will be transported through some 9 km haul-road before reaching Bunyut river in West Kutai regency.
