Bhatia to up Indonesian coal import

Indian firm Bhatia International Ltd will increase import of Indonesian coal to 6.6 million tonnes this year from 4.8 million tonnes last year.

Vikas Vijayvargia an official from the company?s Indonesian unit PT.Bhatia International told Petromindo.Com on Tuesday that its main source of the coal is East Kalimantan coal miner PT.Berau Coal, with which it had a 1.5 million tonnes per annum term supply contract .

The remaining supply would come from smaller miners in Kalimantan.

According to Vikas, Bhatia is also scouting for mining acquisition in Kalimantan or Sumatra. (denny)
