BHP Billiton may offer stake in Maruwai coal project to India's SAIL: Report

World's top resources firm BHP Billiton Ltd. may offer a stake in an Indonesian coal mine to state-owned Steel Authority of India Ltd., a senior BHP executive said Sunday as quoted by Dow Jones
"SAIL is keen to participate in our Maruwai coal mine but financial details haven't been worked out," M S Ramachandran, chairman of BHP Billiton India, said on the sidelines of an industry conference.
He gave no further details.
BHP Billiton has said that if approved, the Maruwai coking coal project would come onstream in mid-2009 and owuld initially produce around 5 million metric tons a year.
SAIL is India's largest steel company.(*)
