Indonesian coal producer PT Bhumi Rantau Energi only produced about 1.6 million ton of coal from its coal mine in Rantau, Tapin Regency, South Kalimantan in the first half of the year.
The firm should have produced around 2 million tons in the first six months, half of its annual target of 4 million tons for this year .
Business Operation General Manager Dadang Djupri told Petromindo.com on Monday that the firm?s failure to reach target was caused by heavy rains.
"The heaviness of rains along the first half of the year was beyond our prediction. That is why we only reached about 80 percent of our (six-month) target," he said.
The firm produced about 900,000 ton of coal in the first quarter of the year.
