South Kalimantan coal miner PT Bhumi Rantau Energi (BRE) is looking for another mine contractor to develop its new block area, which has an area of around 1,000 hectare in Tapin regency.

At present, the company has hired PT Kalimantan Prima Persada (KPP), a unit of PT Pamapersada Nusantara (Pama) as mine contractor to exploit its area of around 300 hectare only, the industrial source told Petromindo.Com.

The mine produces 250,000-290,000 tonnes per month, currently. BRE is expecting to reach its target of 3 million tonnes of coal total for this year. As of September, the company has produced more than 2 million.

Next year, the company is planning to further increase its coal output to 4.5 million tonnes.

The company is expecting to start the new coal mine production next year, the source said without giving the exact timeline.

Once the new block is in full production in 2014-2015, BRE can produce around 8-9 million tonnes per annum, the source said.

BRE is coal unit of PT Tapin Suthra Berjaya (TSB), a joint venture between PT Hasnur Jaya Utama (Hasnur Group) and PT Padangbara Sukses Makmur. (denny)
