Bids for building Muara Tawar power project to be submitted Feb 21

The government had planned to receive on February 21 bidders? formal offer to construct Muara Tawar gas power plant in West Java, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said Monday.

If the schedule was met, contracts for the project could be signed on April 15, and unit I of the plant could start operation in April 2004, the minister said in a parliamentary hearing.

Reports said that bidders for the Muara Tawar plant, which will have capacity of 6 x 10 megawatts, included Samsung Corp Engineering & Construction, Hyundai Eng & Const. Co. Ltd, PT Adi Karya, General Electric Int, Inc, PT Hutama Karya, PT Indonesia Power, PT Siemens Indonesia, Mitsui & Co. Ltd, PT Mitsubishi Corporation, PT Tripatra Engineering, Sumitomo Corporation and PT Marubeni Indonesia.

The project, located in Bekasi, West Java, is part of state electricity company PLN?s priority program to cope with electricity supply shortage in Java and Bali. (godang)
