Big capacity coal barges not allowed passing Barito river

South Kalimantan port administration has issued request for coal mining firms to temporarily stop transport coal with barges with capacity of above 10,000 tons through Barito river in South Kalimantan to avoid the barges of being stuck due to decline water level, Kompas reported Thursday.
?We asked them to stop shipments until Sunday because the water level from Trisakti port to Java Sea mouth is currently only 2.2 meters, far from the ideal depth of 5 meters,? head port administration Sufrisman Djaffar said.
Djaffr said barges with capacity of below 10,000 tonnes are still allowed to pass through. (*)
