The Indonesian Geospatial Information Agency (Badan Informasi Geospatial/BIG) along with several ministries and government institutions planned to jointly make a new map this year to be used by all businesses in the country?s mining sector, an official said on Tuesday.
Nabiha Sahab, a staff at the REDD task force, said after giving a speech at a seminar on forestry said that the map was expected to avoid the problem of overlapping in determining areas for mining operation and other mining business purposes.
"In 2013, the map is expected to be completed," she told Petromindo.com.
"The map can be used for all purposes. With this map all differences will be easy to be settled," said Nabiha.
She said that many parties in the mining sector have used different map versions which have often created disputes.
