Biliton PSC in termination process: SKK Migas

Upstream authority SKK Migas said the Biliton Production Sharing Contract (PSC) offshore Central Java owned by Mitra Energy Biliton Ltd, a unit of Southeast Asia-focused privately owned upstream firm Mitra Energy Limited, is currently in the process of termination.
Head of Communications and Protocol at SKK Migas Zudaldi Rafdi did not give further details.
Mitra has previously drilled three wells, namely the Parang G-1, Batara Ismaya-1, and Batara Indra North-1. They were drilled in 1974, 2007, and 2008, respectively. As no shows were recorded in either well, these wells were subsequently plugged and abandoned.
According to the company?s website, seismic study conducted by Mitra on this block was focused on a prospect known as Batara Sambu, only 7 km from the modelled source kitchen and within the reservoir fairway. Mitra reprocessed 227 km of 2D seismic over the Batara Sambu structure, which resulted in improved definition of the prospective section and indicated likely continuity of the Talang Akar carbonate reservoir section across the prospect.
In 2011, Geopetrol farmed into the block and took a 47.5 percent working interest, in exchange for funding of a 3D seismic survey and a contribution to the drilling of an exploration well.
In 2011, 252 km? of 3D seismic data were acquired to de-risk the prospect prior to drilling a well. The Batara Sambu-1 well was drilled by the jack-up drilling rig 'Randolph Yost', in December 2013. It was subsequently plugged and abandoned as a dry hole. This was the final commitment well in the Biliton PSC, said the company.
The Biliton PSC reached the end of its 10 year exploration period, and thus expired, on 29th Dec. 2013. Mitra has sought and is awaiting partner approval to commence relinquishment procedures, said the company previously in its website.
The block covers an area of 1,302 km? and lies in the Java Sea in water depths of less than 50m.
