Major flood in Bima, West Nusa Tenggara Province, on Wednesday has caused damage to the 4.5 MW Bima diesel-fired power plant, local substation and four medium-voltage power networks, state-owned electricity firm said in a statement.
As result, power supply to some areas in Bima Regency and City has been cut off, affecting some 36,000 customers.
PLN said it is rushing to quickly repair the damages in a bid to resume power supply to the affected areas. Meanwhile, the Niu diesel-fired power plant could not supply power to some areas as some networks have been cut off.
PLN hopes to be able to completely resume power supply to the affected areas within the next two-three days.
As part of emergency measures, PLN has brought in eight units of diesel generators with combined capacity of 40 kWh.
