Bimaruna plans mine mouth power plant in C. Kalimantan

Coal miner PT Bimaruna Abadi, a unit of Korindo Group, is currently conducting a feasibility study for a planned a 2x100 MW mine mouth power plant in Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan.

?We?re ready for either direct appointment or tender to be held by PLN,? said Gesiu Nicholas Manurung, Legal Counsel of Korindo Group, Monday, referring to the state-owned electricity firm.

Bimaruna operates a coal mine in Pangkalan Bun with estimated reserves of 100 million tons of coal with low calorific value of 3,000 kcal/kg GAR.

Gesiu said that the planned power plant will need 150,000 tons of coal supply per year.

Aside from coal-fired power plant, Korindo also plans to develop biomass-based power plant.
