Binani bags 1-year coal supply deal from Indonesia miner

Indian firm Binani Cement, a subsidiary of Braj Binani Group has bagged 1-year coal supply agreement with East Kalimantan coal miner PT Bukit Baiduri Energi (BBE), the company?s official told Petromindo.com last week.

The official said that BBE will supply for 6 supramax vessel for one year, starting January (1 supramax = 55,000 tonnes). ?Every two months, we receive 1 supramax,? the official said. The coal will be used for its 70-MW power plant in India.

According to the official, Binani is still looking for more coal supplier to anticipate its next new 55-MW power plant and for kiln in its cement plant. The project is expected to come onstream in the first quarter of 2012.

The project needs a coal with calorific value around 5,000-up kcal/kg (ADB).

The company is also in final stage to acquire a coal mine in near Samarinda, the capital of East Kalimantan province. The mine has a reserve around 15 million tonnes, the official added without giving further details. (denny)
