Bintan begins operating new gas-fired power plant

The Bintan Regency in Riau Islands Province has obtained an additional power supply from the new 6 MW Takojo Kijang gas-engine power plant, which started operation on Tuesday.
Doddy Pangaribuan, General Manager of state-owned electricity firm PLN Riau Island regional office said that the extra supply should help resolve the power shortage in the region.
The new power plant supplies about 12-13 percent of the 53 MW electricity demand during peak load in Bintan, Doddy added. (*)
