Bintan coal-fired power plant starts operation

One unit of the 2x15 MW Galang Batang coal-fired power plant in Bintan island, the capital of Riau Island province started commercial operation since December 27.
The synchronization of the electricity with PLN?s networking is still on going. At present the capacity of electricity, which enters into Bintan island is 12 MW and it will ramp up to 15 MW by the end of this year, head manager of the power plant, Khairul Makmursyah said on Thursday.
The power plant is operated by independent power producer, PT Capital Turbin Indonesia
Another one unit of the power plant is expected to come onstream by March 2012, he added. (*)
