Independent power producer PT Capital Turbin Indonesia (CTI) has been forced to shut down the 2x15 MW Galang Batang coal-fired power plant on Bintan Island, Riau Islands Province, local reports said Monday.
The reports, quoting Majuddin, a Manager at state-owned power company PLN?s Tanjung Pinang area, said that the shutdown was after the first unit of the plant suffered trouble, followed by the second unit. It did not say what the trouble was.
The shutdown has forced PLN to implement brownouts, which on Sunday was made three times, each more three hours, Tribunnews said.
The first unit of the Galang Batang power plant went into commercial production at the end of 2011, and the second unit in 2012. (*)
