Investment by domestic companies in the country?s mining sector reached Rp 11.3 trillion during the first nine-month period of this year, according to Chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Mahendra Siregar.
Mahendra told Petromindo.com Thursday on the sidelines of the Indonesia Investment Summit that the figure accounted for about 12 percent of the total Rp 94.1 trillion investments made during the period through the domestic investment scheme (PMDN).
?This is a stable contribution to the total PMDN investment,? he said, pointing out that investment made in the sector through the PMDN scheme in the same period of last year accounted for 11.5 percent.
He said that the relatively stable investment trend in the mining sector is a good development particularly as the government moves to push for the development of the downstream mining sector.
The largest contributors to the total PMDN investment during the period was financial services (43%) and manufacturing (40%) sectors, Mahendra said.
