Black Gold drills Elang-1 well in Cendrawasih block

Black Gold Energy LLC, an affiliate of Canadian oil and gas company Niko Resources Ltd. has commenced drilling on Elang-1 exploration well in the Cendrawasih block, Papua, since June 29, 2013.

"Niko Resources has begun spudding since June 29," Head of Drilling and Survey Division at SKK Migas, Arief Fanzuri told Petromindo.com on Wednesday.

The Elang-1 exploration well has been drilled to a depth of 6,800 feet of July 2.

"The drilling target is set at 13,600 feet," added Arief.

In March, Black Gold bought a 49 percent stake in the block from ExxonMobil Indonesia to bring its stake ownership to 100 percent.
