Blockage ends at Pertamina, Gulf operation in Jambi

Villagers had lifted their blockage of the oil operation of the Pertamina-Gulf joint operating body (JOB) in Kenali Asam Bawah, Jambi, state oil and gas company Pertamina said Thursday.

Spokesman for Pertamina?s directorate of production sharing management Sidick A. Nitikusuma told Petromindo.Com that the villagers had ended the blockage after Pertamina and its JOB partner Gulf Resources of Canada agreed to asphalt the village?s road as demanded by the villagers.

The villagers blocked off the access road to the oil wells operated by Pertamina and Gulf and occupied the maintenance facilities owned by service company Halliburton for weeks since mid-May to force Pertamina and Gulf to asphalt the road.

?The asphalting works are now in progress,? Sidick said.

He however did not provide details on the length of the road and when the blockage ended.

There are three oil fields in the area ? the Kenali Asam, Tampino and Bajubang fields ? with a daily output of between 2,000 and 3,000 barrels.

Gulf has a 60 percent working interest in the Jambi JOB. (Godang)
