BNPT to help prevent terror attacks in energy, mining sectors

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources signed on Tuesday cooperation agreement with the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) to help prevent terror attacks and secure assets in the country?s energy and mining sectors.
The ministry said in a statement that the signing of the agreement, made by respective director generals at the ministry, was witnessed by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan.
The agreement with BNPT spans various sectors overseen by the ministry including oil and gas, electricity, mineral and coal, and renewables. The cooperation agreement includes helping to ensure security of operations and activities in the sectors as well as exchange of data as well as ensuring data confidentiality.
The Tuesday agreement follows an MoU between the ministry and the BNPT signed on March 13 of this year, valid for five years, and can be renewed.
