Board of supervisors issues decree to improve SKK Migas? governance

In response the bribery scandal involving Rudi Rubiandini, now-suspended Chairman of upstream authority SKK Migas, the Supervisory Committee of SKKMigas has issued an instruction letter aimed among others to improve good governance in the agency.

"The instruction letter was delivered to me so that the oil and gas industry and operations of SKK Migas can run better," said SKK Migas interim Chairman Johanes Widjonarko at a press conference, Jakarta, Tuesday (20/8).

According to him, there are five tasks specified in the Instruction Letter 010/SKKP0000/2013/SO dated August 19, 2013 that must be performed by SKK Migas. The five tasks are as follows:
1. To fully support the efforts by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) of completely settling the legal case involving the suspended SKK Migas chairman.
2. To take necessary steps to implement bureaucratic reforms at SKK Migas to ensure the development of good governance, which is efficient, effective, clean, transparent, accountable, and free from corruption, collusion, and nepotism.
3. To maintain good governance and run all business process as required by the regulations.
4. To urge all levels of leadership at SKK Migas to uphold and apply the code of ethics, professionalism, and integrity pact, as well as to improve control in running the whole business process.
5. To conduct an evaluation or assessment of the entire business process at SKK Migas with inputs from institutions such as the KPK, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK), and the state comptroller BPKP..

Based on the Presidential Regulation No. 9/2013 on the formation of SKK Migas to replace BPMIGAS, SKK Migas has a board of supervisors chaired by the minister of energy and mineral resources. Other board members are the vice minister of energy and mineral resources, the vice minister of finance and the head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).
