The Bogor regency and city governments in West Java have partnered with sovereign wealth fund Danantara Indonesia to develop a waste-to-energy (WtE) power plant at the Galuga landfill, as part of efforts to improve waste management and generate electricity.
Authorities said the project site in the Greater Bogor area was finalized on April 16. The facility is expected to process municipal waste into power, although capacity and investment details were not disclosed.
Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto said the initiative reflects cross-regional collaboration to address long-standing waste challenges.
“We are collaborating to manage waste from Bogor and have finalized the location of the WtE plant together with Danantara,” he said.

The project will utilize land owned by the Bogor city administration at the Galuga landfill and aims to convert waste into electricity, reducing reliance on conventional disposal methods.
Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim said the project could mark a milestone in Indonesia’s waste management efforts.
“This is a significant opportunity and a step forward in developing waste-to-energy solutions,” he said.
The Greater Bogor WtE project is expected to serve as a model for integrating waste management with energy generation in Indonesia, supporting broader environmental and sustainability goals.
