The minor bomb explosion at a branch office of gold and copper mining company PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (NNT) in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, on Monday could be made by people frustrated over failure to land a job at the company, provincial Police Chief Brig. Gen. Jonny Yodjana said.
"I think the bomb explosion is made for threatening, so that they can be accepted to work at Newmont," Jonny was quoted by the Bali Post daily.
He dismissed suggestion that the explosion was made by competing security groups within NNT.
He said that the police had questioned eight witnesses including six company security officers and two drivers.
He said that the type of the bomb was the same as the type which exploded in the same place in November last year, pointing out that the composition of the bomb included kerosene plus other materials filled in bottles.
Jonny also said that the police was still trying to magnify the result of NNT camera, and expected that the case could be soon uncovered. (*)
