The bomb attack at JW Marriott Hotel in Jakarta early this week will not affect investment activities in the country's oil and gas sector although the terror attack has caused panic and fear to the public.

Minister of Energy Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said in Jakarta on Thursday that there had no indication yet that the bomb attack which killed at least 10 innocent people had affected the interest of foreign investors to carry out activities in the country?s oil and gas sector.

The minister, however, said that his office would hold a meeting with foreign investors in the oil and gas sector to brief them about the bombing and the government? serious efforts to cope with terrorist attacks in the country.

At least 15 new investors have joined the government?s tender to develop 11 oil and Gas blocks. Besides these investors, the government has also received proposals from other four investors to develop other gas and oil block.

The minister said that the interest of the investors to take part in the development of the country?s oil and gas resources remained strong despite the bomb attack. (*)
