Chemical firm PT Humpus Aromatic, owned by former president Soeharto son Tommy Hutama Mandala Putra, was bombed early on Tuesday morning by unidentified men causing two fuel tanks to explode, the Banda Aceh-based Serambi Indonesia daily reported.
The paper said that there was no victim.
The chemical firm is located near the liquefied natural gas refinery facility of PT Arun in North Aceh.
A company public relations officer said that the two fuel tanks which exploded were only 20-25 meters away from an LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) tank which if exploded would create a disaster to Arun.
The officer said that they had to sprinkle the LPG tank to prevent its temperature to increase due to the explosion of the nearby fuel tanks.
Meanwhile, the Aceh Independence Movement or popularly called GAM said that it was not responsible for the bomb explosion in the Humpuss Aromatic compound. "GAM will also participate in searching for those responsible," said GAM deputy armed forces commander Sofyan Daud.(*)
