Bomb threats at ExxonMobil's Point A complex in Luas subdistrict, North Aceh, on Tuesday morning caused the company's employees to run in panic.

The frenzy started when an operator passed on information to employees that a person had called him informing that he would explode the office.

Security personnel were called, and an anti-bomb team was sent in to locate the bomb. But no bomb had been spotted.

Sources said that the bomb hoax probably came from a number of contractors that did not like rules imposed by ExxonMobil.

ExxonMobil's Relation Manager Muslim Basya told Serambi on Thursday that because of the bomb hoax, activities in the company's Point A complex were disrupted totally as hundreds of its employees left their working place to a designated secure place.

Meanwhile, the Free Aceh Movement's (GAM) governor for Pase district, Said Adnan Adami and deputy chief of GAM armed wing for Pase, Abu Sofyan Daud, told Serambi that they had no plan to bomb ExxonMobil facilities.

Abu Said said that such a big company needs to be protected, as it is not their enemy. "GAM enemy is the government of Indonesia, not that building or that vital project," Abu Said. (*)
