Bontang LNG output to fall to 15.5 million tons in 2009

The liquefied natural gas (LNG) output of the Bontang plant in East Kalimantan, the country's largest, is projected to fall to 15.5 million tons this year, from 15.9 million tons last year.
Meanwhile, production at the Arun LNG plant in Aceh may reach 2.2 million tons this year, unchanged from the previous year?s, Iin Arifin Takhyan, vice president of state oil company PT Pertamina, the appointed seller of the fuel, said in Jakarta on Thursday.
According to Petromindo?s data, Bontang and Arun produced 18 million tons and 2.8 million tons of LNG in 2007.
The Tangguh LNG plant in West Papua, the country?s third, is expected to start production this year. The maiden shipment from Tangguh?s first LNG train is scheduled for April this year. The plant has two trains each with a capacity of 3.8 million tons. (Godang)
