Bontang LNG plant running at half capacity

The Bontang LNG refinery in East Kalimantan has been running at half of its installed capacity since early this year, operating only 4-5 trains of the total 8 trains, as gas feed to the plant only stands at 1,800 mmscfd.

?The Bontang refinery currently only operates 4-5 trains,? Deputy for Operational Control at the upstream authority SKK Migas, Muliawan told Petromindo.com Tuesday.

He said that the extra trains will only be utilized if the gas feed exceeds the 1,800 mmscfd threshold. ?Right now, the other trains are in standby position,? said Muliawan, but did not provide further details.

PT Badak NGL, a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina, which operates the Bontang LNG refinery, confirmed that the LNG plant is currently only operating 4-5 trains in line with the available gas supply.
