The Bontang LNG plant in East Kalimantan has been running at 60 percent of its installed capacity since last year, operating only four of the total 8 trains.

?The Bontang plant currently operates four trains, while two trains are on standby and two others train are long time idle,? VP for LNG, Gas & Power at Gas Directorate of Pertamina Didik Sasongko Widi told Petromindo.com.

He added that the trains that have been idle for a long time are the oldest ones and have smaller capacity.

According to Didik, only four trains are in use now as its gas feed is getting less. "By using four trains, thermal efficiency becomes maximum."

Didik also estimated that this year the Bontang plant will not operate all trains. "This year will be the same as last year,? he said.
