Bontang to deliver first LNG cargo to Jakarta Bay FSRU on Wednesday

The Bontang LNG plant in East Kalimantan will officially make the first shipment of LNG to the Regas Satu Floating Storage and Regassification Unit (FSRU) in Jakarta Bay within days, a senior official at PT Nusantara Regas, the operator of the LNG floating terminal said on Monday.
?On Wednesday, a ceremony will be held to mark the maiden shipment of one cargo of LNG to the FSRU in Jakarta Bay,? Ari Adji, Technical and Operational Director of Nusantara Regas, told Petromindo.com.
The company is a joint venture between gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) (40 percent) and oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (60 percent), both owned by the state.
The Regas Satu FSRU set sail from the Jurong shipyard in Singapore on April 12. When asked if the FSRU has arrived at the Jakarta Bay, Ari said the LNG floating terminal ?will arrive soon.?
?The pipeline through which the gas will be delivered from the FSRU to the power plants owned by PLN is now in commissioning stage,? he added.
The operation of the FSRU will become an important milestone in fulfilling domestic demand for gas. With the maximum capacity of 3 million metric tons of LNG annually, the FSRU will supply a combined 400 mmscfd of gas to the PLTGU Muara Karang and PLTGU Tanjung Priok combined cycle power plants in North Jakarta, owned by PLN.
"With this FSRU, Nusantara Regas will be able to fulfill the gas supply commitment to PLN of 1.5 million tons LNG annually," Karen Agustiawan, President Director of Pertamina, said during the ceremony on April 12 to mark the voyage of the FSRU from Jurong to Jakarta Bay.
The FSRU will receive most of its LNG supply from Bontang to the total amount of 11.75 million tons in 11 years.
