Coal firm PT Borneo Indobara, a subsidiary of IDX-listed coal mining company PT Golden Energy Mines Tbk, plans to develop a 1.8 MW power plant in South Kalimantan, teaming up with PT Surya Utama Nuansa (SUN), which is engaged in the provision of renewables technology.
This was revealed by SUN CEO, Ryan Putera Pratama Manafe. He said that the planned power plant will provide electricity to support the mining operation of Borneo in Angsana, Tanah Bambu Regency, South Kalimantan.
?Currently it (the project) is still at procurement stage. The technology and other equipment will be dispatched to the area early next year. The target is (for the plant) to start operation mid next year,? Ryan told Petromindo.com last week.
Borneo has been operating diesel-fired power plant to supply electricity, which is costlier than power supply from solar power plant.
Ryan said that Borneo will spent around US$2 million-$3 million for the solar power plant project.
SUN, set up in 2016, is engaged in renewables technology particularly solar power plant in cooperation with technology providers form Norway and Japan.
