Bosowa begins construction of second LPG terminal

Developed by subsidiary PT Misi Mulia Petronusa, the group?s second LPG terminal is expected to be completed in 22 months, Bosowa CEO Erwin Aksa said.
The Rp 787 billion investment LPG terminal, which will have four LPG tanks with a combined capacity of 10,000 metric tons and supported with jetty facilities with a combined capacity of 6,500 DWT, will be contracted to state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina to distributed LPG to consumers in East Java and Bali.
Bosowa started the construction of its first LPG terminal in December last year. The terminal, located in Makassar, will cost around Rp 857.5-billion, and will hve a capacity of up to 10,000 tons of LPG and is supported by a dock and a fleet of transportation trucks. -
The Makassar terminal, operated by subsidiary PT Bosowa Duta Energasindo, will supply gas to parts of South Sulawesi, Manado (North Sulawesi), Gorontalo province and also in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi.
Erwin said the commissioning of the Makassar terminal marked Bosowa?s entry into the downstream part of the oil and gas business.
Bosowa has been spreading it wings in the energy-related sector. The conglomerate built a $350 million coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 2x 25 Megawatts on 10 square kilometers of land in Jeneponto, South Sulawesi. The group is also building another 2x125 MW power plant in the same location.
Last week, the South Sulawesi-based conglomerate announced that it would start with the construction of its $432.7-million ferronickel smelter in March as the government has banned the export of mineral ores in a bid to generate greater value added from mineral commodities by forcing miners to build local smelters.
The smelter will be situated on more than 60 hectares in Jeneponto, South Sulawesi, where the company has a 250 MW coal-based power plant to support its operations. Bosowa has a 10 square kilometer nickel-mining concession in Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi. (*)
