Bosowa Group plans to build a coal-fired power plant with a capacity of up to 300 MW in South Sulawesi to help cope with the shortage of the electricity supply in the province, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Tuesday.

Alwi Rum, the chairman of South Sulawesi investment coordinating board, said in Makassar on Monday that Bosowa Group had obtained a license to build the power plant which would be located in Jeneponto regency.

?The company will invest about abut US$300 million to build the power plant,? he said, adding that the power plant would be built by Bosowa Group to support its cement plant PT Semen Bosowa Maros in the regency, which at present spent at least Rp 10 billion a month for the electricity supply provided by state owned electricity company PLN.

Alwi said that besides for its own use, Bosowa will also sell the electricity to private companies in the regency. (*)
