?This year we will build new power plant with a capacity of 300 MW and with total investment amounting to about US$330 million,? Bosowa Energi?s President Director, Erwin Aksa, said after a ceremony held for the start of the trial operation of the company?s first power plant at a seaside area in the regency on Sunday.
Erwin said that about about 60 percent of the funds needed for the construction of the new plant would be provided by China Construction Bank with the remainders would be sourced from local banks.
Bosowa Energi completed the construction of the coal-fired power plant with two generator units each with a capacity of 125 MW on a 80-hectare area. The company spent about $250 million to build the power plant, which was built by Chinese construction company China Chengda Engineering. The construction works were completed in 19 months, much faster than the 33 months originally scheduled.
Erwin hoped that the construction of the power grid could be completed in April next month so that the electricity from the new power plant could be supplied to PLN?s distribution network. PLN will buy the electricity at 5.5 US cent per kWh. (*)
