Bosowa to build second power plant in Sulawesi

Bosowa Group will build its second coal-fired power plant in Punagaya village, Bangkala, Jeneponto in South Sulawesi with total investment of about US$330 million, Investor Daily reported on Saturday.

The PLTU Jeneponto Unit II power plant, which would have a capacity of 1 x 300 megawatt (MW), would be built by Bosowa Group?s subsidiary PT Bosowa Energy.

Erwin Aksa, the CEO of Bosowa Group and president director of PT Bosowa Energy Erwin Aksa said that the total investment for PLTU Jeneponto Unit II would be almost the same with that of PLTU Jeneponto Unit I.

?Almost the same with the first power plant, about 60 percent of the funds for the project would come from China through CCB and the rest will be provided by local banks,? he said, adding that PLTU Jeneponto Unit I, which was built with total cost of about US$250 million, has begun operation since Aug. 2012.

The electricity produced by PLTU Jeneponto Unit I is sold to state electricity company PLN at a price of 5.5 US cent per kilowatt hour. (*)
